05 Canada's gov't computer systems struck by intruders
Canada's ultra-secret spy agency recently detected what the Communications Security Establishment says were: "a series of sophisticated intrusions into the federal government's computer systems." 14 July 05 Good Christians worldwide observe silence As Big Ben chimed noon in London, good Christians observed a sombre two-minute silence worldwide to remember the victims of the four attacks on the city's transit system last week. 05 July Vatican says same sex marriage " is a "defeat for humanity," So says the Vatican's semiofficial newspaper L'Osservatore Romano, in an article signed by Francesco Valiente and published Sunday, where he states that the Catholic Church's opposition to this initiative involves, not a "war of religion," This is a defeat for Roman Catholicism and the Prince of this world. 01 July Venom3635(Quantico,USMC) we offer AWOL Sanctuary 01 July CommonDreams.org needs your help Please thoughtfully consider a donation to assist their work. needlessly, of extreme poverty
On July 6th, we finally have the opportunity to stop that shameful statistic. 8
world leaders will be presented with a workable plan to double aid,
drop the
debt and make the trade laws fair. But they'll only do it if enough people tell them to. 01 July Canadians! Have a safe and fun Canada Day holiday! ![]() 01 July Benedict XVI Hopes Papal Primacy Won't Prevent Unity Benedict XVI hopes that the papal primacy will not be seen as an obstacle but as a support for the full unity of Christian churches and confessions. Quoting No. 13 of the Second Vatican Council's dogmatic constitution on the Church, "Lumen Gentium," Benedict XVI said: "Within the Church particular Churches hold a rightful place; these Churches retain their own traditions, without in any way opposing the primacy of the Chair of Peter, which presides over the whole assembly of charity and protects legitimate differences, while at the same time assuring that such differences do not hinder unity but rather contribute toward it." Because of this, he hoped that "the Petrine ministry of the Bishop of Rome is not seen as a stumbling block but as a support on the journey toward unity." The good Christians have consistently upheld the supremacy of the Universal Church meeting in General Council to elect and appoint the Bishop of Rome and other historical Apostolic dioceses. Our objection is to the claim of Roman Catholicism that it alone is the inheritor of the Chair of Peter to the exclusion of all others among the fulness of the Body of Christ. In that context, it is not an obstacle to the unity of the People of GOD. 28 June Council of Elders meet to resume 5 July After a two week hiatus on retreat, it was announced today the Council of Elders will resume meeting on Tuesday, 5 July. 28 June Canada legislates same gender marriage After years of debate and favorable high court rulings, the Canadian parliament today passed legislation allowing same gender marriage throughout the nation. The good Christians in Canada support the law, rejecting the argument it infringes on religious freedom. More information: Pro Con News report 28 June Maine gay rights law goes to voters in November Opponents of Maine's newly-enacted gay rights law Tuesday delivered signed petitions aimed at putting the issue to a statewide vote. The Christian Civic League of Maine announced that it and its allies obtained about 57,000 signatures; if certified, that would surpass the threshold of 50,519 signatures needed to put the measure on the November ballot. The pending law is similar to previous gay-rights legislation that voters rejected in 1998 and again in 2000. It would prohibit discrimination in employment, housing, education, credit and public accommodations based on sexual orientation. The good Christians in Maine support the legislation. More information here. 20 June Council of Elders adjourns for two weeks After convening a virtually unprecdented session outside of the Annual General Meeting, the Eldership has suspended deliberations and entered into a two week closed retreat. Several decisions were reached and these will be posted by from time to time. Please see 13 May and 30 May for more background information. 06 June Young white buffalo dies A rare white buffalo in northern B.C. has died after he developed a fever and stopped eating. "Spirit of the Peace" was only a month and a half old when he died Wednesday in Fort St. John. Owner Karen Blatz says she took him to the vet after his breathing became laboured and he started developing a fever. She says Spirit of the Peace was given a fever reducer and an anti-inflammatory and then brought back home. But Blatz says he was still having trouble breathing. "Later in the day, his temperature started to drop and it started to drop below normal, that's when we realized that he was going to be in trouble, and he stopped breathing about 11 o'clock," she says. Blatz says the birth of a white buffalo is said to be about one in 10 million. Native legend is that the white buffalo is a symbol of hope, rebirth or unity, and peace. Cdn Govt Caught Funding Anti-Choice Web Site The publishers of the PolSpy weblog today called on Liza Frulla , Minister of Canadian Heritage, to review the funding relationship between the Publisher’s Assistance Program (PAP) and lifesite.net, a Web site that regularly features articles that can be construed as hostile to those advocating same-sex marriage and abortion. The Interim, an affiliated monthly publication of the Life Site that contains the same disturbing messages as their main Web page, received $47,233 in federal funding through PAP in 2003/2004. Both the Web site addresses, lifesite.net and theinterim.com, appear to be fronts for the same organization, the Campaign Life Coalition (CLC). Both sites give their street address as 104 Bond Street, Toronto, ON. Co-incidentally (or not), this is also the street address of the CLC. All three sites share the same administrative and technical contact, Steve Jalsevac. It is doubtful that most Canadians are aware that their tax dollars are being used to support the extreme religious positions of the Life Site and the CLC through federal support of The Interim. Special wishes to Mike Napier. 04 June Paisley to Meet With RCC Prelate for First Time Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist leader Ian Paisley, long known for his inflammatory anti-Catholic remarks, is to meet officially with an RCC bishop for the first time ever. Paisley will meet with the RCCC primate of all Ireland, Archbishop Sean Brady of Armagh, to discuss improving relations and developing mutual respect between the two communities in Northern Ireland, the Irish Independent newspaper reported. The meeting comes as a surprise to those who remember when Paisley was physically removed from the European Parliament in 1988, for comments he made during an address by RCC Pope John Paul II. Good Christians will watch this meeting with great interest. 30 May No updates until 18 June is possibility says AGC Webmanager AGC Webmanager Darryn Dyck said there may be no website updates or email responses until after the Council of Elders meets. "From 6-18 June our focus will be on preparing for the meeting, recording the meeting and reporting the meeting as several significant items are on the agenda." 29 May Removing tax-exempt status next goal in Canada says Ryan AGC General-Secretary Paul Ryan confirmed today that the long held objective of stripping Canadian religious bodies of their special tax-exempt status is growing closer and will be strenuously pursued during the next 18 months as moves to impose Constantine Christianity increase. Said Ryan, "We strongly dislike entering what may be seen as the 'political arena' so we need to find a careful balance and exhaust all other means of persuasion. But we must be mindful these are a small number of people attempting to corrupt the intent of the taxpayers' money and that we do not seek a total revocation." The AGC takes the position that only humanitarian endeavours that serve the community-at-large without restriction should be exempt and that exacting standards must apply to property and other taxes. There will be more on this in June. Please see 30 April, 2005. 28 May Passing of Edward Albert Heimberger Edward Albert Heimberger was a good man. He was a tireless conservationist, crusading for endangered species, healthful food, cleanup of Santa Monica Bay pollution and other causes. A good man, beloved by all. He died a good death. In the secular world he was known as "Eddie Albert" the actor. "He died so beautifully and so gracefully that literally this morning I don't feel grief, I don't feel loss," His son, Edward Albert said. 27 May 05 Cathar.n-e-t / AGC email systems (Updated) Full service has now been restored to all emails @cathar. n-e-t except necusa. Lama Campaign 26 May 05 On May 17, 1995, the six year old Panchen Lama - one of Tibet's most important spiritual reincarnations - was abducted by Chinese authorities. Much more active support is required to break China's silence on the Panchen Lama's wellbeing and whereabouts. In October this year, China will appear before the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva. At this time, China must report on how it is meeting its obligations under the international convention spelling out the rights to which every child is entitled. It was in this forum in 1996 that China first admitted to holding the Panchen Lama! Please click here to send a Panchen Lama Action Card to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child so that China is made accountable for its crimes against Tibet's Stolen Child. 06 May 05
John Patrick
Riordan, Bishop of Boston and New England in remarks before a joint
conference of delegates from Maine and Massachusetts today exhorted good Christians
to active resistance against the RCC by whatever moral and legal means
available to them. Going further, he urged Roman Catholics to do the

Portland Maine, lawsuit against RCC diocese approved
03 May 05 1600h The state's highest court Tuesday paved the way for a former altar boy to pursue a lawsuit against the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland. Michael Fortin, of Augusta, claimed that he was sexually assaulted by the Rev. Raymond Melville for a period of seven years, beginning in 1995, when Melville was assigned to St. Mary's in Augusta. Last January, Melville was found responsible in Superior Court for the abuse of Fortin, and he was ordered to pay $500,000. But a 1997 Maine Supreme Judicial Court ruling, protecting the relationship between bishops and priests, meant Fortin could not sue the diocese, despite its knowledge of other, similar claims against Melville. The statute of limitations prevented the filing of criminal charges against Melville, who left the ministry in 1997. Tuesday's ruling by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court overturned an earlier dismissal of Fortin's claims against the Diocese of Portland. Read legal opinion here. (Requires PDF) GCCC (Canada) on Bill C-38 02 May 05 What do opponents of Bill C-38 really have in mind? Is freedom of religion and religious liberty really at risk? What does the Conservative Party of Canada believe on questions of conscience and why should Canadians be fearful? Read more about their hidden agenda here. AGC Web visitors wonder...when will the site be restored? 02 May 05 A reasonable question. The web manager will reply after the church email systems have been updated 15 May (?). And what about public access emails? This too will be addressed. Cranky Catholic League leader and the passion of the crisp 01 May 05 Catholic
League president William Donohue wants a return to the
Inquisition. Said Donohue in a press release: “And, of, course,
from
the Jewish Forward to People magazine, we have learned that the new
pope previously governed a Catholic office once associated with the
Inquisition. After listening to these people rant, the idea of bringing
it back is awfully tempting.”
Lest we forget that noble time... "the Inquisition marks a substantial advance in the contemporary administration of justice, and therefore in the general civilization of mankind...The large numbers of burnings detailed in various histories are completely unauthenticated, and are deliberate inventions of phampleteers..." The Catholic Encyclopedia, 1917, III pg. 34. Read the Catholic League statement here. (external)
The pacifistic good Christians were after all a terrible threat to the existing order. "The Cathars then were as dangerous as terrorists today, and brought fear, cruelty, bloodshed and war wherever they had sufficient numbers. In southern France it took the full armed power of the King of France to overcome them." Read link here. (external)
Donohue's admiration, bordering on the idolatrous for Mel Gibson and his film, “The Passion of the Christ,” is well documented. "If the Catholic League for one moment thought this would inspire anti-Semitism, it would condemn the movie. It is near unanimous: this movie will not foment anti-Semitism. Any such blind charges are vacuous.”
During the period following the release of the movie and its embrace by radical fundamentalists such as Donohue, anti-Semitic acts rose almost 88%. It's an unprecedented level. With the Catholic League's scriptwriters leading the way under the inspired direction of its 'director no doubt the "Passion of the Crisp' will be released soon and Donohue to enjoy the retirement he has so warmly earned. AGC to RCC in
Ohio: Senate Bill 17 or face review of tax exempt status
30 April 05 Ohio AGC Bishop admonishes Cleveland RCC Bishop Anthony Pilla: "The Roman Catholic institution has used taxpayer money to protect pedophile priests. Now it is using tax dollars to actively prevent the prosecution of those priests or settlements against them." He urges the Ohio State Senate to approve Senate Bill 17 or revoke the tax exemption status of the RCC in Ohio. Harper would lead Canada into civil chaos warns GCCC 30 April 05 In a letter to be released in June, the GCCC in Canada warns that the election of Conservative Leader Stephen Harper as Prime Minister will usher in a period of aggravated chaos and disorder not seen in Canada since the 1970's and severely undermine civil liberties and religious freedom. "The Conservative Party and their hidden allies show a muddled understanding of democracy and would subvert those human forms and traditions upon which democracy itself crucially depends." The document also warns Christians and minority religious groups that Mr. Harper and his party are not the friends they suppose them to be and urges caution. "Mr. Harper is a vain-glorious arrogant man who would plunge Canada into the abyss of abomination, desperation and separation from which it will never recover." National ID Cards May Be On The Way-Regulations in War Spending Bill 29 April 05 The U.S. federal government is moving ahead with a blizzard of new identification card proposals affecting military personnel, government workers and even ordinary Americans renewing their driver's licenses. Privacy advocates say the identification cards reflect Washington's embrace of fancy new "smart-card" technologies allowing pictures or fingerprints to be read by computers. But critics argue the cards give a false sense of security because they can be either forged, faked, bought - or just ignored by terrorists with a determination to kill Americans. On Tuesday, President Bush endorsed moves in Congress to tack federal regulations for state issued driver's licenses onto the bill authorizing $81 billion in additional spending for the war in Iraq. More details off site. AGC strongly opposes the deceptive inclusion of this measure violating the privacy rights of all Americans within an Iraqi spending bill. Mr. Rush Limbaugh lumbers onward 28 April 05 According to Media Matters, on the April 27 edition of The Rush Limbaugh Show, Mr. Limbaugh said: LIMBAUGH: "I would submit to you that people on the left are religious, too. Their God is just different. The left has a different God. There's a religious left in this country. "And, the religious left in this country hates and despises the God of Christianity and Catholicism and whatever else. They despise it because they fear it, because it's a threat, because that God has moral absolutes. That God has right and wrong, that God doesn't deal in nuance, that God doesn't deal in gray area, that God says, 'This is right and that is wrong.'" Passing of Philip Morrison last Friday noted with sadness by AGC 27 April 05 On the death of Dr. Philip Morrison, we share this reflection from Jennet Conant in the Boston Globe. Mail systems will be down 2-3 May - Updated 30 April 27 April 05 Church email systems will be undergoing some changes for 24-48 hours. There should be no bouncing. Additional procedures are planned over the coming months and a schedule will be made available. Remembering the Armenian people 24 April 05 Ninety years ago, on the night of 24 April, the government of Ottoman Turkey rounded up about 250 leaders of the empire's Armenian community. Some were deported, others executed. Over the next two years nearly 1.5 million Armenians were reportedly killed or died during deportations from Turkey. Early AGC impressions favorable to Ratzinger/Benedict XVI 21 April 05 The initial response among good Christians generally and among the eldership is positive to his election. This may surprise if not shock many visitors to this site. Details will include the AGC official statement and the letter to Benedict XVI. Both are historic documents. This is under discussion (27 Apr 05 ) AGC opposes renewal of restrictions imposed on Mordechai Vanunu 19 April 05 The AGC strongly condemns the Israeli authorities’ decision, announced today, to renew the restrictions imposed by the Israeli authorities on anti-nuclear whistle blower Mordechai Vanunu. The AGC reiterates its call on Israel to allow Mordechai Vanunu to leave the country if he wishes, to exercise his rights to freedom of movement, association and expression in Israel. Ratzinger elected head of RCC 19 April 05 Joseph Ratzinger of Germany has been elected pope of the RCC taking the name Benedict XVI. In a Vatican declaration entitled Dominus Iesus in 2000 he described non Catholic denominations, as “not proper churches”, saying that the only salvation was in the RCC. He headed the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the successor to the Inquisition. "There were not sufficient reasons to unleash a war against Iraq. To say nothing of the fact that, given the new weapons that make possible destructions that go beyond the combatant groups, today we should be asking ourselves if it is still licit to admit the very existence of a 'just war.'" Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, May 2, 2003. " In my study of totalitarian
societies, I came to the conclusion that
the purpose of propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to
inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to
reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they
are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are
forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their
sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil,
and in some small way to become evil oneself. One's standing to resist
anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. ” -- Anthony Daniels
